Love's Labour

IF Love is here
And God is there
If He grants wishes true
My wish is You!!!
It was spring that year.. Vacations ended and kids returned to school. Hopes, Aspirations, Fun , Happiness..the smiles said it all.
Pari was enthusiastic about the new session. After all she was selected into the School Basketball Team and her practices were due to begin. She was the naughtiest girl in the class. Cynosure of teachers' eyes and best friend of all. She was funny witty intelligent and kiddingly naughty. The pranks of the class were mostly attributed to her. She was also independent and strong will. She was the strength of her friends.
Whenever there were fights between the boys and the girls of the class( boys - who thought girls were dumb witted) undoubtedly Pari was the one leading the beautiful side's charge. She was the princess of the class and everyone just loved her and so did she.
Life was like a cakewalk for Pari. If anyone cried, she would wipe the tears and smiles returned. What was sorrow, Pari never understood. Ohh its all in the thoughts, so she thought life could never be hard and it was just the way one looked at it. It was all so wonderful for her. Her practices and friends and studies, Pari's life revolved around them.
'I like him' , one day Shasha confided in her. 'So go and marry him' was Pari's answer. After all who falls in love in class VII, she thought. But someone did!
She never left a chance to pull anyone's leg and it was hard to get back at her. But her friends loved her , even though she left them red faced and then put an arm around them 'I understand' and a beautiful smile.
People who fail are never failures beacause in their failure lies someone else's success as well. A lot of students dropped that year and a fresh lot had come. Everyday new fresh scared faces were seen in the class. Pari being the monitor of the class was the first one to befriend them and also the first one to share their smiles in school.
Oh did I tell you Pari was never a girl. She stood in the Girl's line alright and wore skirts, but here we had a girl who just hated being a "sweet girl". She was a rockstar, she played cricket with guys, did boxing with them and after teaching a lesson or two she would return back to her work. And were the guys scared of her? No, they just loved watching her jump with joy and say "Hey I beat you, I am stronger".
So, the good point was that the people who dropped were forgotten and new friends were made. Everyday the kids would shout for a new one's rescue "Ma'am, He is a new Boy/Girl so he/she does'nt know the homework. The teacher would then spare the new boy/girl for a month, thanx to the class. But he was not spared!
What is the top most speed at which you can ride a bicycle? Well, if there was ever a competition of riding it the fastest, he would have won it. Hands Down!
Who was he? Aaaa..the guy who had it all, and topped it all with his arrogance like a cherry on a cake. He was the last one to join that session, precisely on 29 April.
'Hey who is he?' asked Pari with a usual twinkle in her eyes, a prank coming to her brain. 'A new kid', a friend replied looking at a boy wearing starched white shirt and new grey trousers which were a bit too large for his size. He was looking at the class with observing eyes, clasped hands and then he would just bend his head, resolved something and with a jerk would get up as if he had just found the purpose of his life. His face was lit, actually he was a bit too fair complexioned and with new clothes he was a delight to look at...
'Lets rag him', Pari came up with the idea. Her ideas were always so weird. ' Shut up' said Shasha and pulled her for the school choir. No Pari was not at all a singer neither was she ever selected into one, she was there just because her friends were there. "What would happen if all of you forgot, at least I ll be there to handle!!"
His name was Jay. A very simple yet arrogant boy. Neither did he talk never did he smile. His books were his friends who were so faithful they never left him. He cared a damn about the world. With a sole purpose he came to the class 'To be the best!'. He never understood why do people laugh or jump or shout. For he was one of those silent types. His voice was heard only during the answers he gave to the teachers and if he missed a point, he shook his head as if he had missed the most important thing in life. He never used to look at anyone , he never bothered to know his partner's name. He need not to. He did'nt need anyone's help and if anyone asked for help, then without an expression he would do as required without saying much. No he was not bad, he was sad of the reason only he knew why.
Slowly Jay started becoming the favorite of the teachers. He had his answers on his tips and his homework almost always done. Yes he even used to do his Hindi homework which was always something the other students would love to skip.
Well Pari was continuing with her basketball practice and coping up with her studies. Of course she never had time to complete her homework or cram up the lessons taught. The position she had earlier, she started losing it to Jay. The teachers would always pick him up before her which left her fuming "Kya padhai ke alawa koi kaam nahi hai iske pass.."
She hated him like anything. 'Oye. Iska problem kya hai? Baat karke ehsaan karta hai kya?Anyways why should I bother' was what she would say more or less when she would see him.
What happened next is all together a different story..much different from what it has been so far...
